Blue Star Ithaki Vessel Leaves Greece For New Home In Canada
After 14 years of sailing the Greek seas, the Blue Star Ithaki vessel began its long journey to Canada, its next country of operation.
Greek ferry group Attica Holdings has announced the conclusion of the sale and delivery of its ropax vessel Blue Star Ithaki to the Government of Canada. The delivery of the vessel to her new owners took place on Friday, 7 November, at the port of Piraeus.
According to an announcement, the vessel has been sold for a total cash consideration of 31,2 million euros. Attica Group is expected to book capital gains of some four million euros in its fourth-quarter accounts from the sale.
In 14 years of sailing the Greek seas, the Blue Star Ithaki performed 10,092 itineraries to and from the Greek islands, carrying 8,438,814 passengers, 174,725 freight units and 906,020 private vehicles.
The Blue Star Ithaki will be replaced in the Greek domestic routes by other vessels of the Group, younger and of greater capacity, aiming at the strengthening of the presence of Attica Group in the Aegean Sea and the overall upgrade of the offered services.
