Alexandros Kachrimanis, Regional Governor of Epirus

A' Kachrimanis ab1Philoxenia 2014 greeting.

The International Tourism Exhibition Philoxenia gives the Greek regions the opportunity to promote and advertise their tourism product.

I should also add that Philoxenia is one of our direct “partners” in our search for new markets and also a reliable “outlet” for the public that seeks and searches for suggestions involving quality tourism.

Epirus, nowadays, is a reference point for thousands of visitors that have already experienced some of its areas.

This is not by chance since Epirus offers possibilities for tourism and leisure that is affordable for every family and, during the past few years, has been attracting even more visitors from new European and the Middle Eastern markets.

Obviously, this is a result of the tourism policy of the Region of Epirus, that seeks and chooses countries that show a great interest in tourism.

Our strategy includes the promotion of Epirus as a destination of four seasons by highlighting its comparative advantages, its rare natural environment and its excellent blend of mountain and sea, culture and history, pure local products and traditional gastronomy of Epirus.

We gained many benefits from our previous participations in “Philoxenia” and we are looking forward to gain even more through our attendance this year.

Our ‘ally’ in our efforts and policy is the upcoming completion of road works that will bring Epirus closer to the rest of Greece. We are already experiencing the positive impact of the Egnatia highway construction. In a few months the Ionia highway will also be completed and it will give a boost to Epirus’ tourism, which will take off when the Central Greece transport axel is built.

Despite this temporary – we hope – difficult economic situation, Epirus is ready to welcome tourism development, with its unrivaled hospitality in the lead.
