WTM 2014: Greece Prepares Various Activities At World Travel Market In London

Greece is getting ready to attend the World Travel Market (WTM) 2014, the leading global event for the travel industry, with quite a few events planned. WTM 2014 will open its doors on Monday 3 November and run until Thursday 6 November at ExCeL, London exhibition center.
World Travel Market is celebrating its 35th event this year. WTM 2013 saw more than 50,000 senior industry executives attend signing business deals worth more than £2.2 billion.

On the opening day of WTM, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) will hold its annual press conference highlighting new tourism plans and initiatives planned for 2015. Next year is expected to be another record year for Greek tourism, according to recent statements by tourism officials.
On 4 November, the GNTO will hold a workshop with the Civil Aviation Authority and travel website Expedia. The workshop will cover crisis management and ATOL – the consumer protection policy provided by the CAA. Expedia will also provide an overview of successful campaigns, online market trends in the UK, media solutions and statistics on how Greece is standing up to its competitors.
An event will also be held especially for the UK media at the Greek stand, which will include a cooking demonstration from the chef of the Aldemar hotel chain and a lunch.
In addition, various cookery competitions with prize draws will be held at the Greek stand. The GNTO is holding competitions with TTG DIGITAL, Aspire and OTT Travel Training with great prizes. The competitions are open exclusively for travel agents.
Throughout the days of the exhibition, visitors and exhibitors can enjoy Greek Breakfast selections at the GNTO stand between 10-10:30am.
Events by regions of Crete & South Aegean
The Region of Crete will host an exclusive event on 5 November for travel agents and the media, celebrating the hidden wonders, picture-perfect beauty and tantalizing flavors of the island. A stunning photo exhibition will take place at the National Geographic Store on Brompton Road in London. The exhibition will reveal the “must-sees” of Crete and visitors will have the opportunity to embrace the Cretan spirit, hospitality and gastronomy.
On 3 November, the Region of the South Aegean has scheduled a press conference to shed light on the vibrant history of the popular Greek island of Rhodes, in celebration of the Rhodian archaeological exhibition opening next month at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Previously home of the Colossus (one of the Seven Wonders of the World), Rhodes is famed for its rich archaeological and cultural treasures. The exhibition at the Louvre will run 14 November 2014 – 10 February 2015 and bring together artifacts that have previously been scattered in museums across the world includes pieces from the Late Bronze Age to the Archaic Period.
