Hundreds Of Travel Bloggers To Flock To Athens, Greece, For TBEX 2014 Event

Athens is getting ready to welcome hundreds of travel bloggers and travel industry professionals, from some 50 countries, as it is the host city for the Travel Blog Exchange European ConferenceTBEX Europe 2014.

The TBEX Europe event is the largest and most popular annual meeting of the international community of travel bloggers, writers, new media content creators, and social media savvy travel industry professionals.

The event will be held 23-25 October 2014 at the Megaron Athens International Conference Center.

All eyes on Athens

athens_coastThrough its role as host city, Athens will have the unique opportunity to highlight itself as an independent tourism destination since it will receive immediate promotion via social media networks. Millions of online impressions, mentions, and uploads are made before, during and after a TBEX conference.

During the three-day event, apart from a series of meetings, discussions, educational seminars and presentations that will take place, the TBEX participants will have the opportunity to explore Athens and share their finest experiences with the world.

The "Travel Trade Athens" event will include thematic visits around the Greek capital.

The organizers of TBEX 2014, the Municipality of Athens, the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA), the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB), have announced a series of hospitality programs, events and familiarization experiences planned for all attendees.

According to ADDMA, 70 special tours for metropolitan Athens have been prepared for the bloggers and writers, according to their tastes and interests.

Also, following the conclusion of TBEX, fam trips fam trips will be organized in cooperation with the GNTO in other parts of Greece, such as Pelion/Volos, the Peloponnese and Epirus.  Visitmeteora will organize a fam trip to Meteora, the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau a fam trip to Thessaloniki and Louis Cruises will organize a cruise in the Cyclades.

Events during TBEX Europe 2014 will include a welcoming party for all attendees at Technopolis, during which TBEX guests will be introduced to Greek cuisine, wine, art, music, culture, tourism and history. A Street Party in the city center, filled with Greek food, drinks, music and art events, has also been announced by the Athens Traders Association and the shop-owners of the Pandrossou Street Market.

In addition, while in Athens, TBEX attendees will have access to free entrance tickets to all Greek archaeological sites and museums, courtesy of the Greek Culture Ministry; free tickets for all means of public transport in the city, courtesy of OASA; and the Athens Spotlighted city card, courtesy of AIA.

The official DMC Partner for TBEX Europe 2014 in Athens is Erasmus. The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) is co-organizer of TBEX Europe 2014.

It should be reminded that the TBEX Europe 2014 was sought out and won by the City of Athens and ACVB, after a difficult and very competitive procedure which began in October 2013, during IMEX America in the USA.

    I can’t think of a better place than Athens to have travel bloggers meet and discuss things. I was in Athens for only 2.5 days and it was amazing. By the way, the picture of the Panathenaic stadium is awesome!
