Sofitel Athens Airport Hotel Becomes Meeting Point For 24 Greek Artists
The Sofitel Athens Airport hotel will be the meeting point for 24 Greek artists from Mesogea until the end of October. Mesogea, means “middle land” in Greek, and is located is the inland of the Attica region.
The hotel is hosting an exhibition of the Mesogea Art Society entitled “The Common Point” that includes painting, photography and sculpture collections. The exhibition aims to highlight that “lonely paths are a thing of the past,” an announcement read.
“Due to its location, the Sofitel Athens Airport will operate as a cultural crossroad, a common meeting point for people from different countries and cultures. A (meeting) point, where images and impressions are merged,” Cyril Manguso, the hotel’s general manager, said.
Artists participating in the exhibition include Katia Vardoulaki, Giorgos Vorres, Yiannis Gavalas, Yiannis Georgariou, Kostas Dikefalos, Thalassini Douma, Panagiotis Drakopoulos, Elessa, Vassilis Theos, Rania Karamouzi, Evgenia Karamouzi, Maria Kelaidi, Athina Latinopoulou, Betty Lyriti, Dimitra Maltabe, Dimitris Maninis, Evaggelia Marinou, Vassiliki Papandreou, Maro Papanikolaou, Vaggelis Polyzos, Christos Soularis, Athina Stamati, Sofia Tounta and Rena Florou.
“Through this exhibition, we strengthen our social role by displaying the tradition and culture of the Greek ‘middle land,’ Mesogia, to an international audience,” Mr. Manguso added.
The supervisors of the exhibition are Yiannis Gavalas and Vassilis Theos.
