Greek Air Traffic Controllers Announce 48-Hour Strike For 4-5 October

cancelled_departuresThe Greek Air Traffic Controllers’ Association has announced a 48-hour strike in the country’s airports scheduled for Saturday 4 October and Sunday 5 October.

According to a press release, the association decided to protest against a ministerial decision that gives the Public Debt Management Agency access to airport fees.

The Greek air traffic controllers said that the airport fees (route charges of airlines) are available only for the development and maintenance of airport infrastructure and not “in any case intended for third party financing, such as for public debt.”

The association said that it would file a complaint to the European Commission for breach of European Community law. The air traffic controllers will also submit to petition to the European Parliament.
