Medical Tourism High On Greek Ministers’ Agenda
Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Health Minister Makis Voridis recently held a meeting in Athens to discuss ways to develop medical tourism in Greece.
More specifically, the two ministers discussed the improvements to the existing legal framework for medical tourism that will come into effect through a new Joint Ministerial Decision. In this context, both ministries will be involved in an upcoming meeting of medical tourism experts and stakeholders. The meeting will be held 7-8 October and offer a good practices exchange where the participants will share knowledge on ways to develop medical tourism in Greece. It was also agreed for a briefing on medical tourism to be held in Thessaloniki.
In an effort to strengthen medical tourism in Greece, the tourism ministry is conducting research in the international market to gain additional expertise.
The ministry has also launched synergies for the effective promotion of the country’s medical tourism capabilities to markets abroad.
