The Greek Tourism Ministry wants to strengthen its cooperation with the country’s regions and municipalities during the tourism season.

Following a meeting on 18 July in Thessaloniki with the prefect of Central Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said that all must cooperate for the good of tourism.

“The ministry is here to support the country’s regions with specialized expertise, especially in the field of promotion, publicity and communication… We are here to make you stronger and more effective,” the Greek tourism minister said in a statement.

On Greece’s municipalities, she said that they must become more active with their responsibilities and should not expect everything to be done by the ministry or the government.

“Tourism does not exist without cleanliness, orderliness and tidiness… Everyone must assume their responsibilities,” she underlined.

The Greek tourism minister also commented that the Tourism Ministry has an excellent cooperation with the Region of Central Macedonia. She informed that the prefect has a specific plan and many proposals aimed towards the country’s tourism development.

“We have decided to follow a common path so that in a very short time we will have measurable and tangible results,” Mrs. Kefalogianni said.

She added that Central Macedonia – with the northern city of Thessaloniki as a reference point – could play a leading role in the further development of Greek tourism over the next few years.

When you are showing those wonderful places in Thessanoliki, please have them in English which is the Universal language and everybody in the world understands.
I’m in USA and very much intrigue by your beautiful city and will definitely come for a visit this year and will stay for a month. Does everybody in Thessanoliki speaks or at least understands English? I never thought Greece is a very beautiful country and maybe the reason my mother-in-law fell in love with it.
