“A cruise to the Greek Isles takes you to dramatic landscapes where history is on display at archeological sites dating back thousands of years,” USA Today notes.

Journalist Fran Golden recommends certain cruise itineraries that will give passengers “time to sip local wine at a taverna, explore beautiful beaches and absorb the scenery of whitewashed homes clinging to cliffs above the blue Aegean Sea.”

The newspaper lists various cruise lines that visit “must-do islands” such as Mykonos, Santorini, RhodesCrete and Corfu.

“Greece actually has almost 6,000 islands, only 227 of which are inhabited,” the journalist notes and lists itineraries for more “in-depth exploration.”
