UK: Uncharged Mobiles, Laptops and Tablets Banned From Some Flights
Those traveling into or out of the United Kingdom best make sure their electronic devices are fully charged before getting to the airport or else they may have to leave them behind, the British Department for Transport recently announced.
In line with the recent advice of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, passengers on some routes into and out of the UK may be required to show that electronic devices in their hand luggage are powered up or face not being allowed to bring the device onto the aircraft.
So far, the measure applied only to passengers on flights bound for the United States.
“Passengers flying into or out of the UK are therefore advised to make sure electronic devices being carried in their hand luggage are charged before they travel,” a statement by the British Department for Transport read.
The British Department for Transport has not commented on which routes would be affected.
