Former Marathon Beach Hotel In Greece Reopens After Renovation, Name Change
The historic Marathon Beach Hotel in Nea Makri, East Attica, has reopened to guests after a nine-year closure, a renovation and a name change. The hotel’s new name is Marathon Beach Resort.
A Nea Makri highlight and landmark of the 70s, 80s and 90s, the hotel passed into the hands of the Tzilavis family in 2005. Since then only the beach club was open to the public.
The Marathon Beach Resort recently opened its doors following a first phase of renovations on two-thirds of the total property.
According to the hotel’s CEO, Panagiotis Tzilavis, the revamp combines the past with the present and the future.
The hospitality areas consist of 46 double rooms and 20 family rooms and suites. The public areas include a pool, restaurant and bar, a special event venue, tennis courts and BMX park.
The management and sales of the Marathon Beach Resort are run by hotel management company HotelBrain.
