Greek Wine To Receive Major Promotion In China
Greek wine companies Boutari and Kir-Yianni recently embarked on a partnership worth $50 million with COFCO Wines & Spirits Co Ltd that will boost Greek wine exports to China. COFCO Wines & Spirits is the largest, state food and beverage company in China.
The agreement is considered of great importance for the Greek wine industry as it opens doors for promotion, development and further cooperation in the Chinese market. It is based on a five-year plan that will launch this summer and initially focus on the promotion of classical, Greek varieties (Xinomavro, Moshofilero and Aghiorghitiko), with the potential of expanding to other wine varieties.
According to Boutari Company, working with COFCO Wines guarantees great development and proper promotion of quality, Greek wine in the Chinese market.
“The partnership will contribute significantly to export growth and spread Greek wine on an international level,” Konstantinos Boutaris, CEO of Boutari Company, said.
Boutari and Kir-Yianni companies launched the agreement with COFCO Wines & Spirits with the cooperation of Boutari (Shanghai) Wine Co. Ltd., of Mihalis Boutaris, based in China.
