For the next two years, the trips of the personnel of the Volunteer Bone Marrow Donor Bank “Orama Elpidas” to various cities and villages in Greece for the collection of bone marrow samples, will be covered by Greek online travel booking company AirFastTickets.

The announcement came following the recent visit of AirFastTickets president, Nikolaos Koklonis, to the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis – ELPIDA” Children’s Oncology Unit.

The Bone Marrow Donor Bank “Orama Elpidas” officially launched on 20 March 2014 by the Society of Friends of Children with Cancer “ELPIDA” and is the first established in Greece. It operates in the Children’s Oncology Unit “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis- ELPIDA” and fills a big gap in the country’s health sector: finding a compatible transplant for patients who need a bone marrow transplant.

According to the president of the “ELPIDA” Association of Friends of Children with Cancer, Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, Airfasttickets becomes the link between the Bone Marrow Donor Bank to all of Greece’s destinations.

“The free airline tickets will help us respond more easily to the needs of our campaign. Thank you very much for your kind thought that shows the human face of your company,” Mrs. Vardinoyannis said while thanking Mr. Koklonis for his donation. She then honored him with a plaque “ELPIDA” (hope)  in recognition of his gesture.

During his visit to the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis – ELPIDA” Children’s Oncology Unit, Mr. Koklonis and many members of the Airfasttickets became volunteer bone marrow donors.
