Thessaloniki Attracts The Interest Of 27 Airline Companies
Twenty-seven airline companies expressed interest in establishing direct links to Thessaloniki International Airport “Macedonia,” during the Routes Europe 2014 event that recently took place in Marseille, France.
According to the Region of Central Macedonia that took part in the event, initial messages are very positive for 2014 and it is expected for international passenger traffic at Thessaloniki Airport to surpass any previous records.
The number of scheduled international flights to and from Thessaloniki Airport this summer has increased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2013.
During the summer, 24 airlines will operate 496 regular weekly flights from Thessaloniki to 56 international destinations (63 airports), in 23 countries. More charter flights (25 percent increase) to international destinations from the Greek Northern city will operate as well.
The international destinations to be served with the most flights from “Macedonia” airport this summer are London, Moscow, Dusseldorf, Munich, Stuttgart, Istanbul, Belgrade, Paphos and Larnaca.
In regards to domestic destinations,the majority of regular weekly flights departing from Thessaloniki are scheduled for Athens and Heraklion, followed by Chania, Rhodes, Limnos and Mytilini.
