Greek Business Confidence Ticks Up In Overall Global Negative Business Climate
Greece was among the countries where business sentiment increased while the overall global business climate remained negative and stagnated during November and December 2013, according to the December Business Monitor survey by EUWIFO.
EUWIFO is the European Economic Research Institute based in Zurich, Switzerland. The institute’s Business Monitor is a survey that cumulates managing business owners’ expectations of their business’s current and future performance as well as the overall business environment. The survey is conducted in 44 markets.
According to the survey, although there may be room for optimism in the Americas, where the index continued its positive progress, in Europe and Asia the index remains negative. “The increase in the business climate in the Americas was negated by the decrease in Europe. As such, the global business sentiment index is stagnating,” EUWIFO said.
Business sentiment increased in Russia (+6%), Turkey (+5%), and Australia (+4%). On the other hand, the sharp drop in the UK (-10%), Romania (-5%), Singapore (-4%), and India (-4%) left the overall index at a low level.
