Greek Tourism Minister Meets With Ambassadors From Arab Countries

The possibility of Athens hosting a summit with tourism ministers from European Union countries and Arab states, under the Greek Presidency of the EU, was one of the topics discussed on 25 February in a meeting between Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and ambassadors of Arab countries. The meeting took place at the residence of the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Athens Rayed Krimly.

During the meeting, Mrs. Kefalogianni referred to the government’s initiatives on easing visa restrictions for “visitors of good faith” and she invited Arabs to visit Greece.

Also discussed were the possibilities of launching a direct flight linking Athens with the Arab states to boost tourism relations.

On his part, Saudi Arabia Ambassador Rayed Krimly made special reference to the excellent relations that have developed between the Arab world and Greece and thanked Mrs. Kefalogianni for her recent visit to Saudi Arabia.

During her stay in Riyadh, she signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of tourism with Prince Sultan bin Salman, chief of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities. The agreement aims to boost cooperation in the tourism sector and generate growth in tourist traffic.
