The Peloponnese Launches United Tourism Organization
The seven regional units that comprise the Greek destination of the Peloponnese – Achaia, Arcadia, Argolida Corinthia, Elis, Laconia and Messinia – have teamed up with the region’s hotel associations to show Greek and foreign tourists that the destination is not only unique but also united.
The recently launched Peloponnese Tourism Organization comes to give the region the tourism development and marketing tactics it needs for a dynamic promotion within Greece and abroad.
The aims of the organization will include:
– recording and safeguarding the interests of its members
– forming the tourism identity of the Peloponnese
– contributing to the development of contemporary tourism infrastructure
– showcasing the destination’s tourism advantages
– planning and launching development programs of general and specialized tourism
– participating in local and international tourism exhibitions
– developing educational programs for the training of its members
The organization’s main purpose is to become a key partner of the Greek Regions on tourism development issues and an equal social partner to state tourism agencies for the development of the Peloponnese.
Since its launch in October 2013, the Peloponnese Tourism Organization has held meetings with the regional governors of the Peloponnese, Petros Tatoulis, and Western Greece, Apostolos Katsifaras; the alternate interior minister, Leonidas Grigorakos; the president of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, Yiorgos Tsakiris; and the president of the Hellenic Federation of Hoteliers, Yiannis Retsos.
The organization is planning meetings in the near future with the heads of the Greek Tourism Ministry, the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises, the Greek National Tourism Organization, the country’s chambers, etc.
