Chios Chandris Hotel Joins “Clean Hands” Program

clean hands_logo_1Chios Chandris Hotel on the Greek island of Chios has joined the program of the nonprofit organization that collects used soap from hotels, “Clean Hands.”

Clean Hands began activities in 2012 and aims to reduce waste and improve global health. It is the first organization of health and environmental protection of this kind in Greece. The program has been running with great success for the past three years in America, as well as in China.

The organization estimates that more than 800,000 soaps are discarded per week in Greece. The purpose of the organization is the legal and convenient soap residues collection and after decontamination and recycling, conversion to new soaps and forwarded to poor families, schools, nursing homes, social groceries, as well as developing countries.

“Chios Chandris Hotel is proud to participate in this effort and hopes the Clean Hands effort gains even more supporters,” the management of the hotel said in an announcement.
