Greece Sees Rise Of Bulgarian Tourists in 2013
Last year Greece was the second holiday destination choice of Bulgarian tourists, according to recent data released by the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism of Bulgaria.
According to the data, among the five top destinations chosen by Bulgarians to holiday abroad, Greece was the only country that saw an increase in visitors from the country during the January-September 2013 period.
During the first nine months of 2013, the number of arrivals from Bulgaria to Greece increased by 5.7 percent to 653,071 visitors, compared to the same period in 2012.
Although Turkey was the first preferred destination, visitors from Bulgaria to Turkey dropped by 0.8 percent (830,856 tourists). Skopje, which came up third preferred destination of Bulgarians, saw arrivals from Bulgaria drop by 13.4 percent (266,667 tourists).
Looking at the data, Greece was the most important source market for Bulgarian tourism, supplying 752,464 arrivals during the January-September 2013 period and followed by Romania (745,651), Russia (643,305) and Germany (640,349).
