Thessaloniki To Be Promoted By Private Marketing Company
Greece’s northern and second-largest city of Thessaloniki will be promoted as an attractive tourism destination to international markets through strategic marketing, public relations, innovative thinking, ideas and expertise.
The announcement was made 18 December following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Thessaloniki Hotels Association and private marketing company for Greek tourism Marketing Greece.
Thessaloniki is the first Greek city to join forces with the marketing company aiming to establish the city as a preferred destination to international travelers and enhance the overall visitor experience.
Initial actions will include two press trips, one to highlight Thessaloniki as a City Break destination to Russian media representatives and the second to promote the overall tourism product of the city to representatives of the German media.
Comprehensive action plan

Evdokia Tsatsouri, director of the Thessaloniki Hotels Association; Iosif Parsalis, general manager of Marketing Greece; Aristotelis Thomopoulos, president of the Thessaloniki Hotels Association; Konstantinos Alexopoulos, vice president of the Thessaloniki Hotels Association; and public relations manager of Marketing Greece, Evangelos Kletsas.
A comprehensive action plan will be established for the destination’s promotion to target markets through Marketing Greece’s international public relations and electronic communications network. Other actions include Thessaloniki’s participation in international tourism fairs.
According to Marketing Greece, Thessaloniki will be promoted in accordance with the objectives of the national strategy for tourism development through 2021 as outlined by the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) and McKinsey consulting.
The company aims to create more synergies with Greek destinations with a view to the effective promotion of the Greek tourism product to markets abroad.
