Austrian Experts Give Greece A Lesson On Winter Tourism
Greek and Austrian experts exchanged views and discussed important issues relating to strategic actions for the development of winter tourism in Greece, during a workshop in Athens. The workshop was held by the Greek Tourism Ministry in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy.
The workshop was attended by invited Austrian expert technocrats who presented their experiences based on winter tourism in Austria and focused on good practice case studies.
During the workshop, particular emphasis was placed on the possibility of extending Greece’s tourism season during the winter months with the launch of recreation and tourism activities in accordance to each region’s unique characteristics.
Also discussed were the cooperations needed on a local/regional level for the promotion of winter destinations to countries abroad and issues relating to the operation of the country’s ski resorts.
From the Greek side, the meeting included officials from the Tourism Ministry, the Greek National Tourism Organization, the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (TAIPED), the Ministry of Culture and Sport and Greek winter tourism industry representatives (ski resorts).
The meeting was part of the Tourism Ministry’s general cooperation with its European partners, supported by the Task Force for Greece-Athens Office, on issues concerning vocational tourism education, accommodation classification and certification, public-private sector cooperation for the promotion of tourism destinations, etc.
