Mamidakis Hotels Honored For Environmental Sensitivity
Hotels Iberostar Hermes and Coral on Crete, of the Mamidakis hotel chain (M Hotels), were honored this year for demonstrating good environmental standards and good sanitary and safety facilities.
For the 18th consecutive year, the Blue Flag will be displayed on Amoudi Beach in Agios Nikolaos town and in front of hotels Iberostar Hermes and Coral. This distinction certifies the strict environmental practices both hotels follow in regards to water quality, environmental education and information, beach cleanliness and safety of bathers.
The Blue Flag is a voluntary eco-label awarded to more than 3850 beaches and marinas in 48 countries across Europe, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada and the Caribbean.
In addition, the Iberostar Hermes Hotel was honored for the second year in a row with the Green Key Eco Label certification for adopting environmentally friendly practices that involve energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management and significant measures taken to protect the environment.
Green Key is an eco-label for tourism facilities promoting sustainable tourism. It awards hotels, hostels & campsites with good ecological practices.
