Athens Info-Point Hosts Live Greek Tragedy Performances
Athenians and visitors to the Greek capital on Wednesday, 19 June, had the opportunity to see a brief presentation of Greek tragedy at the city’s visitor information center (info-point) on the Dionysiou Areopagitou Street pedestrian walkway.
At 7pm, 20 students from the Greek drama school Athinaiki Skini marched to the info point to the sound of percussion instruments and gave short performances of the famous tragedies from Ancient Greece, Antigone of Sophocles and Bacchae of Euripides.
The Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (EATA) held the event on the occasion of the new tourism season.
“Such actions reinforce the promotion of Athens and shows foreign and Greek visitors the multifaceted face of our city,” the chairman of EATA, Yiorgos Broulias, said.
