Lemnos Photo Exhibition In Athens
The “Lemnians in Action” association is inviting Athenians and guests to the Greek capital to take a journey to Lemnos Island through photographs.
The outdoor photo exhibition entitled “Destination LXS” (*) will be held in the Agia Irini Square in Athens from 19 to 27 April. On weekdays the exhibition will be open from 5-11pm and weekends 2-11pm.
The exhibition is entitled “Lemnos in my eyes” and will display over 700 photographs taken by 70 photographers – professionals and amateurs – who are either from Lemnos or just friends of the island.
The photographs will present the island’s tradition, culture and landscape.
According to the organizers, the artistic event is an alternative but active effort in dealing with the crisis that is afflicting the island.
“The exhibition aims to highlight Lemnos as a quality holiday destination… Our effort is to send a message during these critical times on the value of volunteerism and to activate young people to solve the problems of their place of origin through positive actions and initiatives,” said Stelios Agapios from “Lemnians in Action.”
The official inauguration of the exhibition that will take place Saturday, 20 April, at 7pm. Samples of the island’s gastronomy and award-winning wines, courtesy of local producers, will be available.
The exhibition is held under the support of the Municipality of Lemnos and volunteers.
