Chinese Investment Firm May Acquire Cyprus Airways
Cyprus Airways is in talks with Chinese company Beijing Yi Xiang Da Investment Co Ltd that has expressed an interest to buy out the Cypriot airline, according to press reports.
When speaking to Cyprus News Agency, the airline’s chairman, Stavros Stavrou, avoided giving details in regards to a possible agreement.
In an announcement yesterday, 9 April, Cyprus Airways reassured passengers that the airline “continues to operate smoothly” despite adverse conditions created in Cyprus and despite the problems the company is facing.
“On the occasion of the disturbance created due to statements and daily reports on the company’s future, Cyprus Airways expects the government to make final decisions soon,” the airline said.
Cyprus Airways has been operating for some 66 years.
