SETE Responds To Greek Draft Tourism Bill
“The draft tourism bill is moving in the right direction… However, significant improvements are required,” the president of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis, said yesterday, 31 January, in an official letter to Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni.
SETE took part in the consultation process on the draft tourism bill that was released for public consultation, during 15-28 January, by the Greek Tourism Ministry. The association sent a series of comments on the proposed regulations for Greek tourism.
The draft bill entitled “Restructuring the Greek National Tourism Organization, reducing administrative burdens, simplifying procedures to support tourism business and other provisions,” views to strengthen investments and entrepreneurship in tourism and restructure tourism services.
According to Mr. Andreadis, the draft bill attempts a series of new regulations – that could facilitate investments and improve the quality of the Greek tourism product – but improvements are needed in certain areas.

SETE also underlined the need for Greek tourism legislation to be codified.
According to the association, the draft tourism law refers to 33 different previous laws, a fact that makes the understanding of the new provisions extremely difficult, if not impossible, even for specialists.
