Tourism Minister To Welcome Actor Daniel Day-Lewis Today In Athens
Daniel Day-Lewis is expected in Athens today, Tuesday, 22 January, to attend the Greek premiere of his new film “Lincoln.”
According to press reports, the Oscar-winning British-Irish actor will be given a tour of the New Acropolis Museum by Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni. They are expected to attend the “Lincoln” premiere together.
Mr. Day-Lewis has been invited to Athens by the Hellenic Spastic Society. He has requested that all proceeds of the premiere be donated to a charity he supports.
“Lincoln” is a 2012 American historical drama film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as United States President Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln.
The film covers the final four months of Lincoln’s life, focusing on the President’s efforts in January 1865 to have the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution passed by the United States House of Representatives.
