Tourism SMEs Included In NSRF-Funded Program For Greek Regions
The Ministry of Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructure, Transport and Networks will announce details on a regional program to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in manufacturing, tourism and trade-services on Monday, 14 January. The program will run on funds from the NSRF, estimated at 456 million euros.
The announcement will follow an agreement made between the ministry and 13 Greek regions (Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia, Epirus, Central Greece, Thessaly, Ionian Islands, Western Greece, the Peloponnese, North Aegean, South Aegean, Crete, Attica) last December.
According to the agreement, the Greek regions will determine the sectors eligible for assistance, evaluate investment proposals and monitor their implementation.
Eligible to take part in the program are small and medium-sized enterprises already in operation and new businesses in the sectors of manufacturing, tourism and trade-services.
In accordance with the timeframes that will be announced, a two-month deadline will be given (until mid-March) for the preparation and submission of proposals from investors. The evaluation of proposals will last two months.
The ministry estimates that payments to eligible enterprises will begin in mid-2013.
The NSRF funds (456 million euros) will be divided to the Greek regions: 70-85 percent of funds will cover existing businesses and 15-30 percent new investments.
