New GNTO Secretary General Appointed
The new Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) is Panos Livadas, political scientist and communications specialist. Mr. Livadas’ appointment follows the resignation of Nikos Karachalios from the GNTO as secretary general.
Bio
Panos Livadas was born in Athens in 1964. He graduated from Athens College and obtained his Bachelor degree in Business Administration and Political Science at Hofstra University, New York, and at the University of Florida, Florida.
He completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Athens (Master in 1996 and Ph.D. in 2007) on “Electoral Behavior.”
From 1987 to 2004 he worked as a technocrat in the private sector. In March 2004, Panos Livadas was appointed Secretary General of Information of Greece’s Ministry of State and later Secretary General of Information of Greece’s Ministry of Interior. During the 2004 Athens Olympics, Mr. Livadas was director of the Zappeion Olympic Press Center.
Among other duties he has reorganized the Press and Communication offices of Greece abroad.
Panos Livadas has also worked on issues related to the promotion of Greece in China, energy deals with Russia, Bulgaria, Italy and the global communication campaign for the inauguration of the New Acropolis Museum.
He is married and has 3 children.
