Delta Air Lines To Resume NY-Athens Flights Next Year
Delta Air Lines announced today, 29 October, that it will recommence its nonstop flight between New York’s JFK airport and Athens International Airport effective as of 17 May 2013.
The flight will operate daily throughout the peak summer season using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 298 seats, in conjunction with Delta’s joint venture partners Air France KLM and Alitalia.
The US carrier’s announcement come following the suspension of the New York-Athens flight for the winter 2012-2013 season as of Saturday, 27 October 2012.
“Operating routes on a seasonal basis is a proactive and successful measure we have taken to protect our revenues by matching capacity to demand,” said Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s senior vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“We look forward to flying thousands of US tourists to Athens next summer, boosting the local economy,” Mr. Cantarutti said.
Delta’s seasonal nonstop service between Athens and New York-JFK will operate as follows:
