Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni approved and announced the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) new Board of Directors on Thursday 30 August, which is comprised by five lawyers, one political analyst, one doctor, one dentist and one hotelier.
The composition of the new GNTO Board is as follows:
President: Konstantinos Zikos, attorney at law
Vice President: Christopher Kaparounakis, attorney at law
General Secretary: Nikolaos Karahalios, political analyst
Members: Mihalis Triantafillides (attorney at law), Andreas Fiorentinos (hotelier), Sofia Loukeri (dentist), Andriani Papandrianou (attorney at law), Christos Gatos (attorney at law), Grigoris Leon (doctor).
The announcement of the new board members took Greek tourism professionals by surprise as only one member of the board is associated with tourism.
The new GNTO Board of Directors monopolized conversations last month among tourism professionals, while mentions were also made through blogs and social media.
Concerns were expressed in regards to the actual “connection” of the board members with the tourism industry.
