Hellenic-Chinese Union Announces Initiative For Greek Tourism

Culture and Tourism Minister Pavlos Yeroulanos gave a speech during the Hellenic-Chinese Union’s briefing and underlined that for the Chinese market to develop in Greece, three key issues are required to be resolved: the visa issue, a suitable air connectivity between Greece and China and high-quality tourism services.
“Greece is expected to welcome some 200,000 Chinese tourists to Greece by 2015,” the president of the Hellenic-Chinese Union for Economical, Commercial and Cultural Communications, Lan Xiao Cheng, said last month during a briefing on attracting the Chinese market to Greece.
During the briefing it was highlighted that the Greek tourism product must meet the demands of Chinese visitors. For example, organized tours of ancient sites and monuments and information brochures to be available in Chinese.
Mr. Cheng announced that the Hellenic-Chinese Union is interested in cooperating with Greek tourism professionals on a publication with information on Greece in the Chinese language.
The magazine entitled “Blue Greece” is currently in the process of publication and will be addressed to the Chinese tourism industry and especially to outgoing tourism professionals.
Mr. Cheng invited Greek destinations, luxurious hotels, travel agencies, restaurants, airlines, shipping lines and bus companies to contribute financially and participate in the initiative.
The Hellenic-Chinese Union’s briefing was held on the sidelines of the 7th HO.RE.CA. show and organized by the union and the Touristiki Agora magazine.
