Athens’ Hotels-Expedia.com Campaign Continues
Culture and Tourism Minister Pavlos Geroulanos last month approved a three-month extension of a campaign launched by the Athens-Attica Hotel Association and online travel company Expedia.com.
The Greek National Tourism Organization will finance the extension of the campaign.
According to the Athens-Attica Hotel Association, the ministry’s support to the Greek capital’s hoteliers came at the most appropriate moment following the defamatory events of 28-29 June (violent street riots in Syntagma Square).
During the campaign’s first phase from 21 April to 19 June, online visits to destination “Athens-Attica” through channels provided by Expedia.com increased by 59 percent compared to the same period last year, the association said in an announcement.
The total investment of the association and of hotel-members that participated in the effort reached some $75,000.
The campaign’s second phase began late last month, with the GNTO’s financial support, and has targeted the markets of the US, Canada, Australia and United Kingdom.
