Athens Center In The Spotlight
The Culture and Tourism Ministry last month launched a series of events in an attempt to revitalize the Greek capital city’s center and attract Athenians to areas that are usually difficult to visit, Greek press reports said.
Under the title “Revitalizing downtown Athens” events that include concerts and theatrical performances will take place throughout the Greek capital along with varied and imaginative interventions in public spaces.
According to the ministry, the aim of the events is to revive the city center so as to “strengthen a sense of optimism.”
Organizations participating in the events include the National Museum of Contemporary Art, National Gallery, National Theater, National Opera of Greece, Athens Festival, National Book Center and Athens Concert Hall.
The events (www.yppo.gr) were launched on 26 August and should run until November.
