Mykonos And Santorini Among Top Destinations
Mykonos and Santorini were included among the top tourism destinations in the world last month, according to reader surveys of two major U.S. travel magazines.
Readers of the American publication Condé Nast Traveler voted Mykonos as the most popular and best European island of the year for 2010.
In a similar reader’s survey of U.S. travel magazine “Travel + Leisure,” Santorini was highlighted this year as the world’s best island for a vacation. The Greek island is followed by Bali, Indonesia, while the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador this year dropped to 10th place from first place last year.
Santorini is also known as one of the most popular wedding destinations in the world.
According to reports, in China, a poster at Beijing Airport this year displays Santorini and advises passers-by to choose the island “if you want a lucky marriage.” Reports say that steady “wedding customers” for Santorini are American tourists.
