HATTA Objects To Passenger ID Checks On Ships
The Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA) recently expressed concern to the Greek Coast Guard in regards to plans to implement identity checks (check-in) of persons that board passenger ships.
In a letter to the coast guard, HATTA underlined that while Greek tourism is at the start of high season and itineraries have already been announced, the check-in process will only cause inconvenience to travelers, as well as defamation to the country.
HATTA advised the coast guard to suspend the procedure so a relevant study could be drawn up for the creation of necessary port infrastructure.
According to the association, the lack of infrastructure (indoor waiting areas) and organization would result to long delays in the departures of routes, especially during peak season.
