Thessaloniki To Be Launched As Cruise Destination
Thessaloniki is scheduled to be promoted as a cruise destination through a non-profit organization soon to be established by the city’s port authority, trade association and chamber of commerce and industry, the Greek press said last month.
As a first step, the Thessaloniki Port Authority zeroed mooring fees so the port of Thessaloniki would become more attractive and competitive for the ships that cruise the Mediterranean.
In regards to the necessary funds to attract cruise companies to Thessaloniki, the city’s trade association said finances would be sought from either donations or assistance from the involved parties.
The association informed the Greek press that the non-profit organization is open to the participation of any other organization that wished to contribute into turning Thessaloniki into a top cruise destination.
