Greece Shines in South Korea
Greece received a double-distinction recently at KOFTA 2008 travel fair in Seoul, South Korea where it won “Best Booth Design Award” and “Best Music Performance,” realized by Greek Soprano Anastasia Zani. Greece received much admiration from the fair’s 100,000 visitors who showed their interest by collecting material and information pamphlets on Athens, Thessaloniki, the Cyclades and Greece’s archeological sites from the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) stand.
Greece’s successful participation in the Korean travel fair marked the commencement of a plethora of ‘blue and white’ displays in the Korean capital in honor of “Greece: The True Experience” campaign in Korea.
The promotional activity is undertaken by the GNTO offices in Japan and South Korea and includes pictures of Greece displayed throughout the city center, musical events, Greek cinema projections and continuous promotion of the Greek campaign on large screens in the center of Seoul.
The events were inaugurated at a special ceremony outside I-Park Mall (Seoul’s largest department store) by director of the Greek GNTO office in Japan and South Korea, Sofia Panagiotaki. Some two thousand Koreans attended and witnessed images of the Aegean accompanied by the traditional sounds of Anastasia Zani in a themed area adorned with Greek colors.
