Greek Tourism Joins Forces with E! Entertainment
The Tourism Development Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) have joined forces with E! Entertainment -the only 24-hour entertainment channel- and signed a memorandum in a bid to attract the “creative class.”
The agreement anticipates the promotion of Greece’s new advertising campaign for a year at a European-wide level on the television network as well as online. The cooperation also anticipates the presence of the GNTO at “red carpet” events such as film festivals (Cannes and Rome) and award ceremonies and in return the organization would be a major sponsor of the E! Entertainment websites in Great Britain, France, Italy and Germany. Managing Director of Europe Middle East and Africa for E!Networks (Comcast International Media Group), Brad Wald, said: “In coordinating its image with Hollywood and the red carpet, Greece aims to attract the European jet set, and we being the ‘owners’ of the red carpet are confident that this cooperation will help the GNTO embrace this difficult class and enhance tourism in the enchanting destination that is Greece.”
President of the GNTO, Athanasios Oikonomou, explained, “Greece sets high ambitions so as to become an appealing destination for the creative class.” He added, “We anticipate that through this cooperation images of Greece would be embedded in the subconscious of the E! Entertainment audience.”
