“Tourism development constitutes a national priority for Greece and our efforts in this capacity will be incessant.”
Philoxenia 2007 greeting.
Tourism constitutes one of the most dynamic sectors in the Greek economy. The post-Olympic era finds our country in one of the best positions in the ranking of world tourism destinations, a fact that is of extreme significance within the framework of ever-increasing world tourism competition. The Philoxenia exhibition is a point of reference for the dynamic course of Greek tourism. The Greek Tourism, Travel and Leisure industry, is based on and benefits from such events of world renowned prestige and influence, as far as attracting investors and institutions of world tourism is concerned.
The already established dynamism of Greek tourism is the biggest challenge, creating expectations and responsibilities.
The successful course of tourism constitutes the only possible way. Our goal will be reached based on a strategy that upgrades the services offered on all sides, that predicts the demands of contemporary age for on-line and digital information and that restricts bureaucracy and promotes investment, always with an environmental conscience.
The combination of these three priorities renders the key to winning future challenges.
The leap for quality is our biggest bet. Quality must and can be a comparative advantage of the Greek tourism product. In line with this is the worldwide presence of Greece in a modern and effective manner, and its promotion through the new and imperative digital realities, which truly constitute the peak of the spear of our communication policy. Finally, an increase in investment strengthens the enrichment and the diversification of the Greek tourism product and shapes the rules for a new tourism map that spreads through time and space, that is, it extends to the whole of Greece and throughout the year. Based on a modernized institutional framework, we will move forward to the drastic restriction of bureaucracy, we will create incentives for viable and sustainable development and we will put in place the groundwork for tourism development in our country for the next twenty years.
Today, Greece can meet the needs of every visitor. Cultural, conference and nautical tourism, rural and urban tourism, luxury tourism and adventure tourism, are at the disposal of the most demanding traveler.
