Helexpo Launches Top Greek Hotels Competition
The Philoxenia tourism awards, that Helexpo began last year, are due to take place once again at the Philoxenia tourism exhibition in November. The most popular Greek destinations will be awarded as will the best Greek hotels, a new category that will be determined and voted for by ‘mystery guests’ that will visit the hotels under the guise of tourists and make notes on the overall services the hotels offer to Greeks and foreigners.
The best hotels will be judged and awarded in the following categories: best city hotel, best beach hotel, best mountain or countryside hotel, best suite or villa, best traditional hotel, best designed or boutique hotel, most children-friendly hotel and best spa hotel.
Honorary mentions will also be made to hotels that are distinguished for their cuisine, breakfast, romantic atmosphere, high level of service and to those that have innovative approaches.
President of Helexpo, Aristotelis Thomopoulos, explained the idea behind the new category is “the desire of those who attend the exhibition to see more members of the industry awarded so that we can distinguish the finest that Greek tourism has to offer.”
With reference to the selection process, Mr. Thomopoulos explained: “We will select hotels that offer the best services, where the staff have an appetite for work and where good taste dominates the surroundings.” Helexpo, he says, wishes to acknowledge the hotels that serve as the best ambassadors of tourism in Greece.
Helexpo will cover the expenses specific to the competition so that hotels can participate free of charge. Managing director of Helexpo, Themis Kartsiotis, said: “As organizers of the most important tourism exhibitions in Greece we are obliged to actively support the tourism industry and we continue in our quest to constantly upgrade the professional character of the exhibition and create new opportunities for our exhibitors.”
