SkyTeam Welcomes Aeroflot As Tenth Member
SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, welcomed Aeroflot as its tenth member and this event was celebrated in Athens at the annual party. Aeroflot, the largest Russian airline, offers daily flights to 89 destinations in 47 countries with its fleet of 81 aircraft. The carrier is based at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport and expects to complete construction on its own terminal Sheremetyevo-3 by the end of 2007.
The ten-member strong SkyTeam alliance gives customers the choice of 14,615 daily flights to 728 destinations in 149 countries.
This year’s SkyTeam party was held at the new Athens planetarium, one of the world’s biggest and best equipped digital planetariums, and featured a show, games and a cocktail reception. The Athens International Airport, Elftherios Venizelos, was one of the sponsors for the event.
The most popular event of the evening was the Millionaire Game for which the two winning teams received two roundtrip tickets to special destinations for each team member.
Team members on winning team A were Mr. Theodoropoulos of Chipita who won tickets to Mexico on Aeromexico and Air France; Vassilis Rigas of Heraklio Travel who won tickets anywhere in the U.S. on Continental Airlines and Alitalia; Mania Tsourou of Air Liquid who won tickets to New York on KLM; and Nikos Thodi of Oceanis Travel who won tickets to Seoul on Korean Air and Czech Airlines.
Team members on winning team B were Nikoleta Laskari of Innovation Tours who won tickets to Moscow on Aeroflot; Frosso Dari of Robissa who won tickets to Paris on Air France; George Karamanos of AIA who won tickets to Rome on Alitalia; Maria Kapineki of International Iniohos who won tickets to Prague on CSA; and Christos Geropoulos of Carrefour Travel who won tickets to Amsterdam on KLM.
