International Tourism Exhibit To Be Held in Athens
The first International Tourism Salon (ITS) – Athens 2006 will be held November 30 through December 3 at the Piraeus Port Authority Center (OLP).
According to Giorgos Karachristos, president of MACT S.A. the company organizing the event, ITS “aims to become the leading meeting point for tourism professionals from Greece and worldwide, and is an event well-suited to the position Greek tourism holds in the international tourism market.”
The upcoming exhibit intends to promote and showcase tourism destinations and businesses in Greece both domestically and abroad. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about new forms of tourism through the exhibit’s organizing themes that include, travel to 14 destinations in Greece, alternative tourism such as agro, religious, athletic, spas and ski resorts, tourism education, outbound tourism to Cyprus and about 40 countries, and conference tourism and large hotels.
The exhibit also aims to increase incoming and outgoing tourism, and to improve relations between Greek and international tourist professionals. International destinations will be promoted by leading international tour operators and tourism businesses.
Also, ITS will serve as a venue to encourage collaboration between Greek and international tourism businesses. Appointments will be pre-arranged with tour operators and with commercial visitors for holiday packages.
