Tourism is Our Future was the title of a conference organized by the Alpine Center and Kariera SA last month to discuss career opportunities and trends in the hotel industry. Speakers included representatives from leading hotels and the Greek Association for Tourist Enterprises.
Andreas Antoniou of Louis Hotels gave an overview of the company’s growth and stressed that excellent service is crucial to success. He also discussed a growing demand for all-inclusive hotel stays.
Irini Varda Capsis of Capsis Convention Centers & Resort Hotels discussed the company’s move into conferences and conventions, the special needs of a conference hotel, opportunities and educational requirements, and the great value of practical experience.
Representatives from Aldemar Hotels, Dr Roni Ganiari and Kalliopi Karantemiri, discussed spa resorts and the need for high quality education in order to serve demanding up-market customers.
George Drakopoulos of the Greek Association for Tourist Enterprises pointed out that if tourism continues to develop at the same rate over the next ten years, 30 percent of those unemployed will have work. He further noted that the students should remember that a thriving tourism industry requires a broad range of businesses to support it, from education, to food and beverage services, to construction and equipment suppliers.
