Travel Association Wins Commision Case
The Greek Union of Air Travel Agencies (PETAGA) succeeded in winning a court case recently whereby travel agents are entitled to a minimum 7 percent commission on airline tickets sold. The court had ruled on an injunction brought by the union against a number of carriers that had decided to reduce the commission paid to agents from 9 percent to 5 percent.
KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, Iberia, British Airways and Austrian Airlines have already accepted the ruling, which forbids airlines to decrease commissions on passenger tickets sold by travel agents.
The union expects other airlines within the Greek marketplace to send in letters of acceptance in the very near future.
