World Tourism Day Celebrations
- This year's World Tourism Day celebrations were the most well organized ever by Greece with by far the lion's share of work carried out by the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourism Agents. After a full day of activities, Development Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos officially opened the evening ceremonies.
- The day's activities included traditional Greek dance groups, popular music and song by professionals in their field and for the younger groups the association held numerous puppet shows and pantomime and shadow stories.
- Also on hand during the celebrations were a good number of exhibition stands, such as the one from Kefalonia manned by the region's head of public relations, Petros Zaxariades, who has years of experience working within the Hellenic Tourism Organization.
- Visitors to the celebrations were many and included not only a good mix from the local population, especially in terms of age, but also a good number of foreign visitors to the city who said they were impressed with the event. The Young Skal Club members were on hand to entice young tourism professionals.
