Strintzis Picks Up Blue Star 2
The Board of Directors of Strintzis Lines, now called Blue Star Ferries, recently announced the delivery of ‘Blue Star 2’ from the Dutch Shipyard Van der Giessen de Noord. ‘Blue Star 2’ is an ultra-modern ferry vessel with service speeds of up to 28 knots and an overall capacity for 1,600 passengers and 700 cars, or 100 trucks and 100 cars.
The vessel offers passengers an a la carte restaurant, a self-service restaurant, four bars, a night club lounge, two cinemas, a casino, a boutique, a swimming pool, and all the facilities required for a comfortable, luxurious and fast voyage. ‘Blue Star 2,’ together with her sistership ‘Blue Star 1,’ will serve the route between Ancona and Brindisi to Patras daily.
The Brindisi-Patras route is covered in a record time of nine hours and the route Ancona-Patras via Brindisi in 21hours.
Blue Star 1 presently serves the same route and has been doing so successfully since June 13.
The operation of these two vessels will enhance the market share of Blue Star Ferries on the Adriatic routes as seven of its vessels will connect Italian and Greek ports on a daily basis.
