Greece Works To Reinstate Thessaloniki-Munich Rail Link
Greece has launched an effort to bring back into operation “Axis 10” – the shortest land link to Europe. As part of this initiative, within the next two months Greek intercity trains will depart from Thessaloniki and pass through Skopje, Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana and Salzburg with Munich as the final destination.
Hellenic Railways is preparing to conduct the trips with the cooperation of its counterparts in participating cities, while the venture offers an opportunity to run a comprehensive check of the rail network. After discussions between Greece and Germany on the project, Germany’s transport ministry agreed to provide the bulk of the funding for the project.
