Greek consular services in Moscow are meeting the increased demand for visas by Russian nationals wishing to travel to Greece, Alternate Foreign Minister Nikos Xydakis said on Tuesday, adding that the goal is to further increase tourist flows from Russia.
The European Travel Commission (ETC) called at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London for reform of the way visas are granted to leisure and business travellers.
The number of travelers outside the 26-country Schengen Area visiting Greece has tripled in 2014 compared to 2010, according to figures released by SETE Intelligence.
"Greece is a perfectly safe country for all visitors," Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni told foreign journalists covering EU affairs, during a press conference at the Zappeion Megaron in Athens.
