Greece's cruise travel sector all but “drowned” in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in a 94% decrease in passengers, according to the Greek Cruise Ship Owners Union.
Cruise ship calls to the Dodecanese islands appear to be decreasing, according to data on 43 Greek destinations recently released by the Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME).
The cruise sector is expected to inject 0.5 billion euros into the Greek economy this year, according to Theodore Vokos, executive director of Posidonia Exhibitions.
